CVS has been accused of illegally selling your data — and you could cash in.
The healthcare powerhouse is accused of illegally sharing private user data — like health information, personal insights, browsing data, identifiers and more to Criteo and other third parties through technology embedded on any of the CVS Digital Properties.
This includes the CVS website (CVS.com), the CVS Health website (CVSHealth.com) and the CVS app.
The pharmacy giant has denied any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle for $20.5 million to resolve the litigation and avoid any other ongoing legal expenses.
To be eligible, users must have accessed any of the CVS properties in the US prior to July 27, 2026. The payment amount might not be the large sum you’re hoping for — just $5 to $10.
The $5 amount will be given to folks who submit a claim without documentation, while those who provide proof — like search history, email receipts, or screenshots — will score the full $10. Just note that the final payment amounts could be reduced depending on the total number of claims submitted.
In order to receive any green, all users must file a claim by Nov. 16, 2026. But don’t expect the cash anytime soon — the court must first approve the settlement.
The hearing to approve or deny the case is on Dec. 1, 2026. If approved, eligible claimants will receive payments 120 days after the settlement has been officially approved and after any appeals process is complete.
Those who elect a cash payment, will be made to them in the form they chose — PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or check. Just note, that all checks will expire and become void 180 days after they are issued.
Users can also opt-out of the settlement but must must submit a request for exclusion by 11:59 p.m. EST on Nov. 1, 2026. This means you will not receive any cash but may keep any rights to sue on your own about the legal issues.

That’s not the only massive brand handing out cash from a settlement.
Visa and Mastercard are forking over combined $167.5 million after users claimed they were charged high access fees for cash withdrawals at an independent ATM — an automated teller machine that is not owned by Visa, Mastercard, any bank or other financial institution.
When cardholders use an ATM not associated with their bank, they must pay a pesky surcharge or “access fee” to withdraw money from their accounts. Networks — which are owned by companies like Visa and Mastercard — enable the transactions and connect the ATM to the cardholder’s bank.
Folks are claiming that the operating rules are price fixing, as cardholders have paid higher access fees to use the independent ATMs than they should have. Charging different ATM fees is a violation of federal and state antitrust laws.
To be considered for the cash, you must submit a claim by Feb. 10, 2027 and it can be done two ways — online or by mail.
