Emergency crews are on scene of a reported chemical leak in a La Habra neighborhood as nearby residents are being asked to shelter in place.
LA HABRA, Calif. () — Emergency crews are on scene of a reported chemical leak in a La Habra neighborhood as nearby residents are being asked to shelter in place.
The incident was reported at about 12 p.m. in the 500 block of South Cypress Street. Responding firefighters saw smoke showing from a one-story commercial building, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Video from the scene shows a yellow plume of smoke coming from the site.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.
La Habra Mayor José Medrano posted on Facebook that it appears the chemical leak has been contained but nearby residents are still being asked to shelter in place until further notice.
The fire department said all initial evacuation orders were downgraded to an advisory and authorities shortened the distance around the area under the advisory.
No further details were immediately known.
