Brooklyn baby girl killed: Manhunt continues, reward offered in fatal shooting of 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore in Brooklyn

NEW YORK — A manhunt continues for the second suspect wanted in connection to the deadly shooting of a baby girl in Brooklyn.

The alleged shooter is in custody but police are actively searching for the suspect who drove the moped involved in the shooting.

The 7-month-old child, identified as Kaori Patterson-Moore, was being pushed in a stroller by her mother when shots rang out on Wednesday at Humboldt and Moore streets around 1 p.m.

The suspected gunman was identified as Amare Green, 21, will be charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder, the NYPD said Thursday.

Green is a known associate of a street gang operating out of a public housing project in Brooklyn, Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny said. Investigators are looking into whether the baby’s father may have been the intended target as part of a dispute with a rival gang.

As people ran for cover, the baby’s mother, father and 2-year-old brother fled to a nearby bodega. The mother’s screams could be heard from outside as she realized her child had been hit, in what police are calling a gang-related shooting.

The child’s father ran to the nearby Woodhull Hospital with the baby where she was pronounced dead.

The 2-year-old boy, who was also in the stroller, was grazed in the back but is OK.

The suspects tried getting away on the moped northbound on Humboldt Street. Surveillance video shows them going the wrong way down a one-way street before they collided with a car and both suspects were thrown from the moped.

Eyewitness News has obtained a photo from police of two individuals that police are actively searching for.

The alleged gunman and rear passenger landed so hard his shoes flew off.

He was rushed to a hospital where he was later taken into custody for an unrelated incident — a domestic violence-related robbery.

Police are still trying to track down the other suspect who was driving the moped.

He is described as a young male last seen wearing light gray pants and a white t-shirt with a black surgical mask over his lower face. He was last seen fleeing towards the Marcy Houses.

Police released an image of the person they are looking for, and say he is “the subject of a massive NYPD manhunt.”

On Thursday morning, civil rights leader Rev. Kevin McCall and neighborhood clergy are announcing a $5,000 reward for information in the tragic shooting.

The reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the baby’s death.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
