Blake Lively detailed a conversation involving Ryan Reynolds and Justin Baldoni in a deposition released ahead of the pair’s It Ends With Us settlement.
Lively recalled in her January deposition that Baldoni visited her office to discuss script revisions in April 2023, which is when she brought up that she was “aware” of an “upsetting” conversation he had about her weight. Lively told Baldoni that the discussion “felt invasive and inappropriate.”
According to the actress, Reynolds “briefly” joined in on the conversation, as he was also working in the office at the time. She recalled Hugh Jackman stopping by and shaking Baldoni’s hand before leaving with Reynolds.
Despite previous claims that Taylor Swift witnessed the conversation as well, Lively clarified in her deposition that “no one but Baldoni, myself and Reynolds was anywhere in our office” during the discussion.
Nearly two years after the pair’s legal battle began, a settlement was reached before their scheduled trial date in May.
Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy and lost wages in December 2024. Baldoni has denied all of Lively’s allegations — and countersued in January, though his suit was later dismissed.
As part of her lawsuit, Lively alleged that Baldoni found “back-channel ways of criticizing her body and weight” while filming It Ends With Us.
“Lively was humiliated to learn that Mr. Baldoni secretly called her fitness trainer without her knowledge or permission, and implied that he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks,” the actress’s attorneys alleged in her lawsuit.
Baldoni’s lawyers later countered that he’d only reached out to Lively’s trainer because he’d have to lift her in an It Ends With Us scene — and he was allegedly worried about aggravating a longstanding back injury.

Meanwhile, Swift has repeatedly tried to distance herself from the case. Baldoni’s lawyers previously released a text message from the filmmaker to Lively, which referenced Swift in connection with It Ends With Us’ infamous rooftop scene.
“Was working on rooftop scene today, I really love what you did. It really does hep [sic] a lot,” he purportedly wrote. “Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor). You really are a talent across the board. Really excited nd [sic] grateful to do this together.”
When Swift was formally subpoenaed by Baldoni’s attorneys, her spokesperson insisted the singer “never set foot on the set of” It Ends With Us, nor did she make “casting or creative decisions,” beyond allowing her song “My Tears Ricochet” to be used in the film.
“She did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” her rep told Us in May 2025. “She did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
Her spokesperson added, “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
During the discovery process of Lively’s suit, Judge Lewis J. Liman struck down Team Baldoni’s attempt to depose Swift because it would fall outside the timeline allotted.
Us learned in November 2025 that both Swift and Jackman were on a list of names submitted by Lively’s lawyers for potential testimony at trial. Emily Blunt, Scooter Braun and Gigi Hadid were also named as people “likely to have discoverable information” about the It Ends With Us dispute.
