Below Deck Mediterranean‘s Joe Bradley is speaking out about misconceptions — especially when it comes to his view of women.
“I’ve hurt people in the past and it’s really hurting me. I might not show it, but it does hurt me,” Joe exclusively told Us Weekly. “I don’t want to hear people saying that I disrespect women and I hate women. The best people in my life are my mom, my grandmother and my little sister.”
After returning to the show in season 11, Joe has seen the tide turn.
“I have noticed a few DMs where people are saying they’ve noticed a bit of a change in me,” he added. “I hope I can carry that on and it’s a bit refreshing. Because I’m used to the negative commentary and I laugh and joke about it. But actually getting a bit of positive feedback, I’m actually liking it.”
He continued: “I am trying to be better every single day. I am conscious of my mistakes and I do want to be better. I’ve made mistakes in the past. I am young. I’ve got no excuse for what I’ve done and it’s still one of the biggest regrets that I’ve done, not only on the show, but in life itself. I have got time to learn, adapt and just be the best self that I can be.”
As Below Deck Med viewers know quite well, Joe was entangled in a love triangle in season 9 with Elena Dubaich and Bri Muller. He later found himself in trouble during season 10 due to his connections with both Kizzi Kitchener and Victoria SanJuan, with the latter leading to Nathan Gallagher cutting ties with Joe because of how he handled the situation.

“You will see a level of growth [this season] because I felt it. You will see that I’m comfortable in my own skin on board. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a bit boisterous at times,” he previously told Us. “That’s where Nathan [and I differ]. I can actually be social, but I have a good time as well and do my job well. You will see growth and you will see a level of change because I’m fed up with all these [love] triangles now.”
Joe clarified that he “learned” his lesson, revealing that he’s focused on his duties as lead deckhand.
“I really do hope that you see it on this season. My job is my main priority. I’m going to say my [biggest] regret right now was the situation with Victoria, I could have handled that very differently. I could have handled that in a mature manner,” he shared. “I was just boisterous. Obviously, we haven’t had any contact yet. But if I could sit down with her today, I would apologize. If she allows me one day to actually get all around and say I’m sorry for what I’ve done, I will do that.”
Looking ahead, Joe was determined to prove his critics wrong.
“I understand it’s not a comfortable position — even just being a viewer. Watching myself back, I have learned from the situation. I’m really focused [on] my job right now,” he concluded. “I am taming it down [in my romantic life on board] to just being one person. I don’t need to be greedy anymore. I’ve had my and I’m just ready to get the job done.”
