BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. () — More than 1,000 people attended a memorial Saturday at Fawn Park near Big Bear Lake to honor Jackie, the beloved bald eagle who died last month.
Attendees shared tributes and memories of Jackie during the gathering.
“Anyone who wanted to come and speak, who attended in person was welcomed to the microphone,” said Trisha Dale Green, an organizer of the memorial. “That’s what made this memorial very genuine, true and real. It was about the followers, and of course, the tribute was 100% about Jackie.”
There are plans for a life-size carving of Jackie to be unveiled later this month as the park is renamed Fawnskin Freedom Park.
Jackie died in early August after battling a prolonged illness.
