COVINA, Calif. () — The bright lights, the bold colors and big flavors.
Agnii – A Fiery Experience is more than a restaurant, it’s a vibe in downtown Covina.
“We fell in love with this space, we fell in love with, like, just the energy in the, in the restaurant,” owner Jai Nayak said. “We just looked at each other, and we’re like, ‘Dude, let’s just, let’s just do it right over here,’ you know? ‘We’ll bring Indian food to the city of Covina.’”
Nayak and his brother, Tony Pal, opened Agnii last year, excited to their share favorite South Asian recipes with the Covina community.
Your choice from a large menu with traditional Indian dishes, including tandoori chicken, garlic and cheese naan, lamb, and the creamy tomato-based butter chicken.
Plenty of vegetarian options, too, like the saag paneer, which is a soft cheese cooked in a fresh spinach puree, and one of my favorites.
“We get, like, very fresh people coming in and, they love it, they love it because they haven’t even tried, they never even tried the Indian food,” owner Pal said.
You can also explore fresh creations and modern twists, like their take on a classic Indian dessert: the gajar halwa spring roll.
It’s a sweetened carrot, wrapped in a spring roll.
“People come in here and they’ll grab that first before they even start their main meal,” Nayak said.
“This is delicious,” 7’s Rachel Brown said.
Stop in for daily lunch specials, starting at $15, with discount Tandoori Tuesdays and happy hour, offering beer, wine and many mocktails.
Agnii – A Fiery Experience is open every day, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The restaurant is at 147 E College St., in Covina.
