LOS ANGELES () — Drivers in Southern California are paying more at the pump since the start of the war in the Middle East, and President Trump said he isn’t concerned with the rising gas prices.
The average price of gas in California inched closer to $5 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline Friday. Drivers across the state are paying an average of $4.90 cents, a nearly 10-cent increase from the day before, according to AAA.
In Los Angeles County, gas prices have jumped an average of 30 cents per gallon since the start of the war. Drivers in Orange and San Bernardino counties are paying 34 and 36 cents more a gallon, respectively.
In an interview with Reuters on Thursday, President Trump seemed to shrug off the higher prices at the pump.
“They’ll drop very rapidly when this is over, and if they rise, they rise, but this is far more important than having gasoline prices go up a little bit,” he said.
