After the much-anticipated premiere of The Pitt season 2 last week, the streaming landscape continues to heat up in the second full week of January.
Platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video have plenty of movies and TV shows to sink your teeth into this week.
From a long-awaited second season to streaming debuts of new movies to a spin-off of a beloved reality show, there’s a little something for everyone.

‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 — Amazon Prime Video
Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman return in this critically lauded thriller for a long-awaited second season. While the first season of The Night Manager follows the titular night manager Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) as the former British soldier is pulled into the investigation of illegal arms sales, season 2 finds Pine four years after the events of the first season. Since then, Pine has taken on a new identity and is in charge task force that monitors suspicious activity at hotels. It’s a seemingly mundane task that quickly turns deadly.
Season 1 of The Night Manager racked up an impressive number of award nominations back in 2016 that included eleven Emmy nods, winning one for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special. A decade later, it seems that The Night Manager is better than ever, with critics applauding the show for its gripping, intelligent narrative that replicates its own formula while trying something new.

‘The Rip’ (2026) — Netflix
BFFs Ben Affleck and Matt Damon star in this upcoming crime thriller from the director of Copshop as two Miami cops who must confront the possibility of internal corruption in their department, following the death of a police captain and the discovery of millions of dollars hidden in a run-down stash house. Loyalties are tested and alliances are questioned, as it becomes increasingly unclear who is on which side.
The Rip is produced by Damon and Affleck’s jointly-owned Artists Equity company, and the pair leads a great ensemble cast. In addition to the Golden Globe Award-winning actress Teyana Taylor, The Rip features Steven Yeun, Sasha Calle, Scott Adkins and Kyle Chandler. The deal between Netflix and Artists Equity is notable due to the agreement that Netflix must pay a bonus to everyone who worked on the film if it meets certain performance standards within the first three months after it debuts on the platform.

‘Twinless’ (2025) — Hulu
This 2025 Sundance Film Festival darling finally gets its streaming premiere this week on Hulu. The film follows two men named Rocky (Dylan O’Brien) and Dennis (James Sweeney), who form a bond after meeting at a support group for people who have lost their twin siblings. However, both of them are harboring secrets from one another that threaten to destabilize their unlikely but blossoming friendship.
Twinless currently sports an impressive 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating near-universal acclaim from critics. The film — which was helmed and co-written by Sweeney in his sophomore directorial effort— was praised for being a twisty but smart black comedy that expertly shifts between humor, tragedy and pathos. O’Brien got a particular shout-out for his performance, which shows cases a rangle not explored in previous projects like the Maze Runner movies.

‘Fear Factor: House of Fear’ Season 1 — Hulu
If you miss the stomach-churning thrills and chills of OG Fear Factor, you’ll have to tune in for the premiere of this brand-new spinoff. Hosted by Jackass’ own Johnny Knoxville, Fear Factor: House of Fear follows a group of fourteen contestants left to live together under one roof in a remote location. There, contestants are forced to endure disgusting and harrowing challenges (and one another) in their quest to take home the grand prize of $200K.
Instead of Fear Factor’s original one-competition-per-episode format, House of Fear is a full season competition as contestants are eliminated until only one remains. It’s a compelling format (think Love Island with pig’s blood and snakes instead of dating and gender dynamics), and Knoxville is an ever-charming host perfect for this type of stunt-focused show. With a new format, a new host and the same old gross-out challenges, fans of Fear Factor will find a lot to love here.

‘Hijack’ Season 2 — Apple TV
Starring Idris Elba, season 1 of Hijack followed Sam (Elba), a skilled business negotiator who uses his acumen to tackle the hijacking of his seven-hour flight from Dubai to London. You can’t help but find it hilarious that, for season 2, poor Sam is caught up in a similar mess all over again, when his Berlind underground train is taken hostage, and he is forced to use his skills to de-escalate the situation alongside authorities aboveground. However, this time Sam’s involvement in the situation becomes scrutinized when investigators question his culpability.
We’ve got high hopes for season 2 of Hijack, which was well-received by critics. The series was praised for being a tense thrill ride that is buoyed by a pervasive sense of claustrophobia alongside Elba’s terrific performance. Though not an especially thought-provoking show, Hijack delivers in pure entertainment value. If you’re a fan of Red Eye season 1 or classic airplane thrillers like Passenger 57, be sure to check out Hijack.
