These top-selling Amazon toys triggered an urgent safety recall.
Tens of thousands of popular bendable desk toys have been yanked from Amazon after multiple children swallowed small, loose internal magnets, federal safety officials warned.
Roughly 38,500 Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets were slapped with an urgent safety recall on Sept. 17 after the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that two young children detached and ingested tiny magnets from the figures’ limbs.
The colorful 30-piece sets include 2.7-inch-tall, flexible figures with high-powered magnets encased in their hands and feet. Officials cautioned that the toys violate mandatory federal safety standards by allowing small, powerful magnets to detach easily, posing a potentially lethal ingestion hazard.
These humanoid magnetic toys are used as refrigerator or whiteboard magnets, billboard magnets and desk toys for kids.
Federal regulations strictly prohibit toys with loose or detachable magnetic parts that present a choking or ingestion risk to children. If a child ingests multiple magnets, the pieces can attract each other through internal tissue in the digestive tract, causing intestinal twisting, perforations, severe blockages, or life-threatening blood poisoning.
Both children involved in the reported incidents required immediate hospitalization, according to CBS 8.
The recalled sets were sold on Amazon for about $21 between October 2022 and May 2026. The products lack identifying labels on the figures themselves, appearing in clear, unbranded plastic bags inside a brown box marked with the brand name “Jerify” and item number “X003ADA3TD.”
The action follows three other major toy recalls nationwide this week over dangerous hazards to young children, bringing the total number of recalled items past 360,000. Busy Boards sold on Amazon were pulled after the CPSC warned that red knobs can break off and present a choking risk.
Target toy firetrucks were also recalled due to a fire hose port that can detach and pose a choking hazard, following 26 reports of the component coming loose. Meanwhile, popular squishy toys were recalled over water-bead hazards; the expandable beads can cause intestinal blockages if swallowed.
The CPSC urges consumers to take the toys away from children immediately. To secure a full refund from distributor Colerinsec, buyers must dispose of the figures and email photo proof to [email protected].
The sets were manufactured in China by Hefei Hanchan Network Technology Co., Ltd., which operates as Colerinsec.
