30‑foot dead whale washes ashore in Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. () — A 30-foot dead whale washed ashore in Newport Beach Wednesday, video from AIR7 showed.

The humpback whale weighing about 10 tons washed up near 11th Street.

This comes after two storms swept through Southern California earlier in the week.

Marine mammal experts said they are hoping another storm expected Thursday will pull the carcass back out to sea. If that does not happen, they will need to find another way to remove it.

The cause of death is unknown.
