RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. () — Two Rancho Cucamonga Police Department K-9s are credited with finding a vulnerable missing woman who had fallen 200 feet down a steep ravine over the weekend.
According to the police department, Twin Peaks deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 9000 block of Old City Creek Road on Saturday after a 49-year-old woman with a traumatic brain injury walked away from home and didn’t return.
When deputies arrived, they began canvassing the area with K-9s Keva and Naji.
Naji initially tracked the woman’s scent, then Keva continued following it down a nearby horse trail, police said. About half a mile into the search, Keva divereted down a ravine, where deputies heard the woman calling for help.
The woman had reportedly fallen approximately 200 feet down a steep ravine.
San Bernardino County Search and Rescue and Air Rescue 306 responded to the scene and hoisted the woman to safety.
