2 people in critical condition after small plane crashes on residential road in Camarillo; video shows aircraft upside down

CAMARILLO, Calif. () — Two people are severely injured after a small plane crashed on a residential road in Camarillo on Sunday evening.

AIR7 video shows the small, single-engine aircraft upside down next to a drainage ditch off Carmen Drive at Lucero Street, not far from the Camarillo Airport.

The Ventura County Fire Department said firefighters successfully extricated two people from the plane. They were both taken to the hospital in critical condition with severe injuries.

The rescue appeared to be difficult, with the plane down on the opposite side of the drainage ditch from the roadway where emergency vehicles were parked.

Fire officials say the plane did not collide with any structures in the area.
