Zachery Ty Bryan’s ex-fiancée, Johnnie Cartwright, has been sentenced after being accused of trying to run over the Home Improvement actor with her truck in November.
Cartwright pleaded guilty to DUI and reckless driving, both misdemeanors, in an Oregon courtroom on Wednesday, January 14, according to hearing audio exclusively obtained by Us Weekly.
The additional charge of recklessly endangering another person was dismissed.
Cartwright was handed 24 months of probation for each of the two guilty pleas and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine. Her license has been suspended for one year, and she must comply with the ignition interlock device requirement once she’s back behind the wheel, Us can reveal.

Bryan’s ex was also instructed to complete several programs, including a Quantitative Risk Assessment, or else she could face additional jail time of 20 days for DUI and an additional 10 days for reckless driving.
On top of her fine, she is required to pay a $255 DUI conviction fee.
Cartwright was warned she cannot possess or consume alcohol, nor can she visit any place where booze is the main product kept or sold.
During the hearing, Cartwright’s attorney told the judge that Bryan, 44, is her “ex-partner,” whom she depends on financially. (The two share three children together).
Cartwright will pay $50 per month beginning on March 1 toward her fine and DUI fee.
Both Cartwright and Bryan were arrested on November 29, 2025.
“Deputies learned Zachery Ty Bryan, 44, of Eugene, was in a pickup truck with Johnnie Faye Cartwright, 32, of Eugene, and their three small children. They were driving together in the area,” Lane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at the time.
The statement noted that Bryan got out of the truck at some stage and began walking on the road. “Cartwright then attempted to run over Bryan, crashing the truck with the children inside into the ditch,” the statement continued. “Bryan was able to move out of the way and avoid injury. No one inside the pickup was injured.”

Bryan was arrested for allegedly violating probation as a result of a prior assault conviction and released from police custody on December 10, 2025.
Cartwright was released from jail on December 3, 2025, but found herself back in the slammer days later for violating her pretrial release.
During her sentencing, the prosecution shed light on what allegedly happened between her and the Home Improvement star that led to their arrest.
The eyewitness claimed he saw a male (Bryan) on the side of the road and Cartwright behind the wheel.

“He watched as the truck drove at the male on the side of the road, and hid an embankment as the male on the side of the road scrambled up the hill, away from the truck,” the prosecutor said in the court audio, noting there were three kids in the vehicle. “The reporting party called 911, and the defendant yelled at him about everyone’s lives being ruined and accused him of trying to take her kids away.”
Cartwright’s attorney informed the judge that her client was “extremely regretful” about the incident.
“She’s living with her mother and still is able to have custody of the children. She’s looking forward to continuing on the progress that she’s been able to make while she’s been on free trial,” her lawyer stated. “She’s not drinking alcohol at this time either, so she’s wanting to continue on with her sobriety.”
When the judge asked Cartwright what she wanted to say before her sentencing, she responded, “Divine intervention, I guess. I’m just here to take accountability, and everything happens for a reason. Me and the girls are doing great, and I’m just hoping to continue on to keep the separation from the father.”
