An Aussie woman has made a disgusting discovery in her almond milk, taking to social media to share the horrifying find.
The woman named Lauren, who owns swimwear brand Lolé Swim, said she discovered what appeared to be a clump of mould in her Inner Goodness Barista Almond Milk, which she bought at Aldi.
“I can’t believe I drank that yesterday,” she says in a video posted to TikTok, showing a black lump on her fork.
Lauren then said she decided to cut the carton open, showing a much larger, black object in the bottom of it.
Commenters on the post were equally as horrified, saying they’d be just as shaken by the incident.
“MY HEALTH ANXIETY WOULD HAVE ME SHAKING IN A STRAIGHT JACKET,” one person said.
“Honestly, the crying is SO valid. I’d be deaddddd,” another agreed.
“Nah, I feel physically sick for you, I’d be wild,” said a third.
“I have like 3 of these in the cupboard rn, and now I’m scared to make a coffee,” another person shared.
Others were more concerned about what was really inside.
“I literally thought it was a dead bat in there,” one person pointed out.
“What is it?” another asked.
Speaking to news.com.au, Lauren said that while she initially thought it looked like a dead mouse, she and her husband agreed that it looked more like mould of some description.
She said she’d gone to Aldi directly with the complaint.
Aldi, in a statement to news.com.au, confirmed it was aware of the issue and encouraged anyone with similar concerns to come forward.
“We are in contact with this customer regarding the complaint and are investigating,” a spokesperson said.
“We encourage any customer to [give] feedback to Aldi directly via the help centre – Aldi investigates all customer complaints.”
It is understood that in cases where the packing’s hermetic seal is damaged, mould may grow on the product due to oxygen entering the product, and can present as seen in this video.
