On February 1, 2026, news broke that Nancy Guthrie was reported missing in Arizona after a family member called 911.
In the days that followed, Annie and her siblings, who include Camron Guthrie and Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, have pleaded with anyone who has information on their mother’s disappearance to come forward and contact authorities.
“Nancy is our mother, we are her children. She is our beacon,” Annie shared in an emotional Instagram video on February 4, 2026, alongside her siblings. “She holds fast to joy and all of life’s circumstances. She chooses joy day after day despite having already passed through great trials of pain and grief. We are always going to be merely human. Just normal human people who need our mom.”

In comparison to her New York based sister, Savannah Guthrie, Annie Guthrie lives a less public life in Arizona.
Back in 2015, Annie released a sequence of poems in her book titled The Good Dark. The book’s “About the Author” section states Annie is a “writer and jeweler living in Tucson.”
“She has a metalsmithing studio at Splinter Brothers Warehouse and can be found through her website,” the description reads. “She teaches at the University of Arizona Poetry Center and also mentors select students wishing to apprentice in poetry or to further their art projects through her courses in ‘Oracular Writing.’”

It’s been widely reported that Annie Guthrie lives in Tucson, Arizona, while Nancy Guthrie lives in Pima County, Arizona, which is just outside Tucson.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously told Us Weekly that Annie was the last person to see Nancy prior to her disappearance.
Authorities believe family members took Nancy home from dinner at about 9:30 to 9:45 p.m. on January 31, 2026. When Nancy didn’t show up for mass the next morning, a churchgoer alerted family members, who later called the police.

Annie Guthrie is married to Tommaso Cioni and once referred to her husband as one of her mentors and creative inspirations.
“My husband is my greatest teacher,” Annie said in a 2013 interview with Women’s Quarterly Conversation. “He is a great manifester; he writes poetry with his lifestyle.”
Jimmy Eat World drummer Zach Lind — whose wife is Nancy Guthrie’s niece — praised the couple on social media.
“Annie and Tommy are amazing people, dedicated parents who also love and care for Nancy on a daily basis,” he wrote via X on February 4, 2026. “Tommaso is an amazing guy.”

In her 2024 book, Mostly What Goes Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere, Savannah Guthrie shared a glimpse into her special relationship with Annie Guthrie.
“My sister is by far the most wise, intelligent, thoughtful, creative, generous and profoundly original person I know,” Savannah wrote. “She is my forever partner in life. We know each other’s thoughts and ways. We know each other’s sadness and weakness. We know each other’s tickle spots and pain points.”
The Today show anchor continued, “Sometimes, the way we have found each other in the hard times is God, the sixth member of our family, as my sister so memorably put it. I know when she is praying for me, and I believe she knows when I am praying for her too.”
