TWO SINGERS TEAM IN TWO DINNER CONCERTS ON THE MUSIC OF STREISAND AND SINATRA FRIDAY, JAN. 16 AND SATURDAY JAN. 17 AT THE WICK IN BOCA RATON – South Florida Theater

Legendary singers Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand have never performed live on stage over their long careers, but an imagined concert titled “The Way We Were” featuring singers Dorian Clara and Frank Frizalone will team the duo performing the  music of Streisand and Sinatra in two dinner concerts starting at 6 p.m. this weekend on Friday, Jan. 16 and Saturday Jan. 17 at The Wick Theater Supper Club in Boca Raton.  Tickets for each show is $180 which includes dinner, gratuities and the concert  The Saturday Jan. 17 show is sold out.

“For fans of both singers, it was a wishlist for Barbra and Frank to perform together in a live concert, but that never happened. Frank (Frizalone) and I decided to make that dream become a reality and so we will be performing  the most beloved hit songs of both singers together on stage that The Wick audiences will enjoy,” said Clara.

The dinner shows will feature 20-25 Sinatra and Streisand hit songs. Clara and Frizalone will perform along with ten musicians in two act concerts that will feature memorable songs and duet performances.

Although both singers did not commit to a definite song list, Cara confirmed that she will perform “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” “Evergreen,” “Papa Can You Hear Me,” “People” and “Somewhere,” among other Streisand songs.

Frizalone will be performing Sinatra hits from the 1970s and will include “Fly Me To The Moon,” “Lady Is A Tramp,” “My Way,” “New York,New York,” and “Summer Wind” among other Sinatra songs.

Clara and Frizalone, who have performed together for six years, made a video of their duet of “New York, New York,” but did not state if the song will be performed as a duet in the Wick Theater concerts.

Singers Frank Frizalone and Dorian Clara team up in two dinner concerts performing the music of Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand on Jan. 16-17 at The Wick Theater in Boca Raton.

Prior to the concerts, a gourmet dinner will be served promptly at 6 p.m. The menu includes three courses beginning with Soup du Jour, a winter garden salad and vinaigrette. There is  a choice of three entrees as follows: 1) ketogenic vegetarian lasagna (consisting of zucchini, red bell pepper, San Marcano sauce, reggiano parmesan, ricotta, mozzarella and fresh basil, or 2) sauteed snapper (with white wine sauce, whipped potatoes and winter vegetables) or 3) roast rack of lamb (with garlic parsley crust, whipped potatoes and fresh mint jus. The dinner concludes with an assortment of the chef’s sweet temptations.

Both Clara and Frizalone are based in New York City and have each been singing as Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra for over 30 years. Oddly enough, the duo never met until six years ago when Clara called Frizalone out of the blue to consider teaming up as Streisand and Sinatra.

“I thought initially this is a crazy person who may really not be who she says she is and I was reluctant to believe her. But then I met her and I heard her beautiful voice and, in the short time we have performed together, I grew to admire and love her ability to perform on stage,” said Frizalone.

“Just like Barbra (Streisand), I am persistent in everything I do, especially singing. I know how popular both Sinatra and Streisand are and I wanted to have a classy, sophisticated singer who can perform the Frank Sinatra songs the way they sounded to his fans and Frank (Frizalone) is the real deal. The past six years performing with Frank have been joyful as we have on stage chemistry,” said Clara.

Clara grew up knowing at age five that she wanted to be a singer and benefited by being a mezzo soprano and having the ability to have the same vocal range as Streisand. In her videos performing Streisand songs, Clara shines in holing notes for long durations, as she did in “Don’t Rain On My Parade” which can be heard on the website dorianclara.com

Clara studied musical theater at Juilliard School and developed her career mostly by singing Streisand songs, but also gets booked doing the music of famed 1970s singers Karen Carpenter, Carole King and  Carly Simon.

Frizalone started his singing career as a young teen While studying the trombone and performing in musical theater, Frizalone developed a love of Sinatra songs as well as the popular singers from the 1960s and 70s, such as Bobby Darin and Dean Martin.

Although Clara was encouraged to have a career in music by her parents, Frizalone’s parents wanted him to pursue college studies and forget about performing as a career.

“I ruined my life by going to college. Maybe if I spent a lot more time developing my show business career, I would have had a career that I did not need to supplement with another career,” said Frizalone.

Although Frizalone has many achievements in his singing career, including an engagement performing at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Frizalone also developed a successful career for 30 years in real estate.

Although achieving much success performing as a tribute singer, Clara had a second career working in an attorney’s office as a paralegal.

“Having the second career gave me a foundation to pursue singing, so I have no regrets about how my life is and I am grateful for all I have been blessed with,” said Clara.
