WASHINGTON () — With the FIFA World Cup just months away, President Donald Trump is threatening to send federal forces to Los Angeles.
“We’re going to have to do something when it comes World Cup time, and we’re going to have to force ourselves upon them, which we have the right to do because we don’t want to have any crime,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday.
“We don’t want to have any problems for the Olympics and the World Cup,” he added.
So far, no L.A. leaders have responded.
The World Cup will be held in June and July in several cities across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
SoFi Stadium in Inglewood is set to host eight games, including the U.S. national team’s opening match against Paraguay.
