Tiger Woods handcuffed as deputies discover pills in golfer’s pocket, bodycam footage shows

Newly released bodycam footage showed the immediate aftermath of the Tiger Woods’ car crash in Florida last week that resulted in the golf legend’s shocking DUI arrest.

Woods was involved in a two-vehicle crash in which his car rolled onto its driver’s side, resulting in him having to escape out of the passenger door.

The 15-time major champion was charged with driving under the influence, despite blowing “triple-zeroes” on a breathalyzer. Woods was found with pills in his pocket, a moment that was captured on camera.

The pills, which were later identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid for pain relief, were originally found in Woods’ pocket. Woods previously told law enforcement prior to the field sobriety tests that he underwent seven back surgeries and “over 20 operations on his leg.” He told law enforcement that “I take a few” prescription medications.

In 2021, he got into a wreck that resulted in serious leg injuries that kept him off the golf course for the entire year.

One deputy is shown with her finger in the air as Woods, while hiccupping, tries to follow it with his eyes. Woods was sitting on the bumper of a vehicle while taking the test.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported observing several signs of impairment at the scene, noting that the golf legend was “sweating profusely” and that his movements appeared “lethargic and slow.” Law enforcement proceeded to perform field sobriety tests because of their suspicions. Woods was instructed to remove his eyeglasses, and the deputy conducting the tests stated that his eyes appeared to be “bloodshot and glassy” and “extremely dilated.”

In one video, Woods, on a knee, told a deputy that he was looking “down on my phone, and all of a sudden, boom.”

The officer then appeared to pat down his back before telling Woods a medic would “check you out.” The officer said he “didn’t feel anything” on Woods’ back. The officer then spoke to a bystander who said Woods “hit the trailer.” The officer then went to the driver who was hit, who said he was fine.

“I was getting ready to turn,” the other driver said. “And he was coming fast. I don’t think he was looking, that’s the thing.”

The driver said Woods hit the trailer that was attached to the back of his vehicle. The officer then directed cars on the road to turn around, as they were set to close the road.

Friday’s arrest marked Woods’ second DUI arrest within the last decade. In 2017, he was taken into custody, also in Jupiter Island, after taking prescription drugs and being asleep behind the wheel of a running car at 3 a.m.

Woods, who may have been vying for his sixth green jacket next week, announced on Tuesday that he would not return to the golf course just yet and instead “seek treatment” after the crash.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” Woods said in a statement Tuesday posted to social media. “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

Woods pleaded not guilty to DUI. He was also charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a test.

Tiger woods leaves jail

The crash came just days after Woods made his return to some aspect of competitive golf after rupturing his Achilles last year, as he played in the TGL finals on Monday. The crash occurred 13 days before the Masters, which Woods will now officially miss. It was not yet known if he would play, prior to the crash.
