The major hospitality brands opening new hotels in Europe in 2026

Europe’s hotel industry will see a projected 123,789 new rooms added to its hospitality portfolio in 2026, double the 56,043 that were added last year, according to pipeline data published by CoStar.

London (5,822) and Istanbul (3,017) are predicted to be the two major European markets for room openings in 2026. Shanghai (7,457) leads the way globally for new inventory, while Dubai (5,053) and New York City (4,852) will also see notable additions.

With the industry’s biggest companies set to expand their portfolios across the continent in 2026, we pick out some of the most anticipated new hotel openings.

Six Senses London, United Kingdom

Set to open its doors on 1 March, Six Senses London marks the luxury brand’s UK debut. Set within The Whiteley development in Bayswater, the hotel will include a range of rooms and suites, branded residences and dining options alongside the flagship wellness and spa facilities. The property will also feature the first Six Senses Place, a private members’ club and social wellness concept.

The Lake Como EDITION, Italy

There’s no shortage of luxury lakeside options on Italy’s Lake Como, and in March a new addition will open on the western shore. Offering views of the historic town of Bellagio, The Lake Como EDITION will be retreat-style destination with dining and private terraces, plus a floating pool, private dock, and waterfront access to the lake. Guests can enjoy curated waterside experiences, including scenic boat tours and immersive wellness rituals.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, Spain

The first Mandarin Oriental in the Balearic Islands will open in Mallorca this spring. Located in Calvià, the resort boasts uninterrupted sea views, best enjoyed from one of the two adults’ outdoor pools. The hotel group is known for its show-stopping spa offering, and Punta Negra will be no different, with a hydro-massage pool, steam rooms, cold plunges and aromatherapy showers. On the food front, Nobu Matsuhisa will open an eponymous restaurant focusing on Nikkei-style dining, while Andalusian chef Dani García will open steakhouse Leña.

Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, Venice, Italy

Housed in a former residence designed by the architect behind the Doge’s Palace, Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli was always bound to impress upon its opening in April 2026. Part of Accor’s Orient Express revival, which will include two train routes from next year, the hotel is located in the Venetian district of Cannaregio. There are 47 rooms, suites and apartments, with the latter being a first from the brand, as well as a fine dining restaurant with private boat access and the Wagon Bar, a nod to the famed train experience.

Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel, Florence, Italy

Among the first hotels opened by Belmond, Villa San Michele will reopen on 28 April after an 18-month renovation. The 15th-century Franscican monastery overlooking Florence is known for its Italian Renaissance architecture, and the team have worked with Luigi Fragola Architects to reimagine each of its 27 suites and 12 rooms. Among the biggest changes is the opening of its first-ever spa, Villa San Michele Spa by Guerlain, and a new experience programme curated by Italy-based luxury lifestyle brand La DoubleJ which will include mixology evenings, sound healing and art talks.

Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch, UK

When it comes to opening a hotel, it’s all about location, location, location. And we couldn’t think of a much better one than the new Waldorf Astoria London, which is opening inside the Grade I-listed Admiralty Arch. Originally commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his late mother, Queen Victoria, the building served as government offices until 2011. Due to open in 2026, not much is known about the property beyond that it will have 100 rooms and suites, and that it will have a rooftop cafe facing Buckingham Palace. A seafood restaurant is also planned for the former home of the First Sea Lord.

Nobu Hotel Madrid, Spain

Nobu’s fifth hotel in Spain will be located in the heart of the Spanish capital – in the Cortes neighbourhood known for its tapas bars and cobbled streets. Expected to open in the first quarter of 2026, the exclusive 50-key property will offer a three-level Nobu restaurant and bar, as well as a rooftop bar and lounge with skyline views. Nobu is just one of the prominent openings in the city this year, alongside Nômade Temple Madrid and Mercer Hotel Madrid.

The Standard, Lisbon, Portugal

Part of the Hyatt group, The Standard brand arrives in Portugal’s capital in 2026. Known for its trendy, design-led spaces and experiences, the hotel will be located at Palácio Santa Clara, above Lisbon’s cultural hub, Alfama. A rooftop terrace, spa, and gardens will provide guests with spaces to relax, while 24 apartments will be available for long stays.

Hotel Raphaël, Paris, France

Set to reopen this year after a major renovation, Hotel Raphaël is a showcase of French tradition and hospitality. Built in 1925, this glamorous five-star is located in the heart of the 16th arrondissement, just a few steps from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées. Expect a typically Parisian stay at the Hotel Raphaël and make sure to visit its hidden gem, a beautiful rooftop with stunning views over the City of Light.

The Park Gstaad, A Four Seasons Hotel, Switzerland

Gstaad’s original five-star hotel, The Park Gstaad, is set to reopen over the 2026-2027 winter season as a Four Seasons. Exact details are yet to be revealed, but the luxury hotel group has said that there will be 75 rooms and suites as well as a number of penthouse residences that will be available for purchase. Guests will be able to rub shoulders with the rich and famous that flock to the famed mountain resort town at the hotel’s restaurants and bars, indoor and outdoor pools, and on the tennis court. There are also plans to open an ice rink over the winter months.
