SWAT and Law Enforcement Vehicles Swarm Savannah Guthrie’s Mom’s Neighborhood as Search Continues

Authorities are seemingly intensifying their search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Multiple SWAT, forensics officers and law enforcement cars were spotted in Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, neighborhood on Friday, February 13, according to CNN and NewsNation. CNN reported that police officers converged on two locations without making any arrests, but did question a man about his apparent involvement. The individual, who was reportedly cooperative, was ultimately released.

“We may see a couple more of these as this goes on,” CNN Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst John Miller told the outlet, speculating the case will likely move fast since there’s a “victim in the balance.”

“I think we saw that again last night, but this particular lead is not going to go any further,” Miller said.

Questions still remain after Today show host Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the news on February 1, sharing a missing person report via X. Nancy was described as a “vulnerable adult” who was last seen “at her residence” within Arizona’s Catalina Foothills area on the evening […]

A representative for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, meanwhile, also confirmed in an X statement that there had been “law enforcement activity” on Friday in connection with Nancy’s potential kidnapping case.

“Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI, no additional information is currently available,” the statement read. “There is no press briefing scheduled for tonight regarding the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”

Nancy, the mother of 54-year-old Today host Savannah and her two siblings, was reported missing earlier in February. She was last seen on January 31.

“On behalf of our family we want to thank all of you for the prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy,” Savannah said in a February 4 video. “We feel them and we continue to believe that she feels them too. Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She is funny, spunky and clever.”

Savannah continued, “She has grandchildren who adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge.”

Savannah also issued an emotional plea to her mother directly.

Savannah and her siblings have since shared multiple social media statements, urging the person or persons responsible for Nancy’s disappearance to return their mother to them. (While police are investigating the case as a potential kidnapping, there are currently no suspects and authorities have issued no arrests.)

“We believe that somehow, some way, [Nancy] is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place,” Savannah said in a Monday, February 9, social media video. “We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where, and we need your help.”

Nancy and late husband Charles Guthrie, who died in 1988 after a heart attack at 49, shared daughters Savannah and Annie, as well as son Camron.
