The Dubai Chocolate trend is coming for Starbucks — and baristas are bracing themselves for the mass appeal the new drink is bound to have.
The coffee giant’s winter menu, which debuts January 6, will feature some fan-favorite drinks like the Pistachio Latte and Pistachio Cream Cold Brew.
Joining that lineup are newcomers, Caramel Protein Matcha, Caramel Protein Latte, Pistachio Cortado, Dubai Chocolate Matcha and Iced Dubai Chocolate Mocha.
Considering the viral Dubai chocolate craze has put the country in a sweet hypnosis, Starbucks workers are preparing for the worst when this menu drops, as they assume customers will be knocking down their doors to get a taste of this decadent chocolate in liquid form.
“We’re going to be so busy forever,” a barista whined in a video that had the caption, “We are actually so cooked.”
“Quitting my job as a Starbucks barista cause I’m not making you a Dubai chocolate latte,” on-screen text of another TikTok read.
“Saw this in our work gc and i literally said ‘dubai chocolate are you kidding me?’ another worker at the coffee chain complained in the comment section of one of these videos.
“Idk if we were a test store for this but we had it last year during pistachio season. It is 100% a pain to make,” a disgruntled commenter pointed out.
“no way this is real…the way i just threw my phone across the room cause no wayyyyyy,” wrote someone else.
Many of the comments even mocked the introduction of new intricate drinks after CEO Brian Niccol said that one of his priorities would be to simplify the “overly complex” menu so baristas can speed up service.

“tutorial on how to make a starbucks employees life harder!” one person commented.
“everytime i turn its like they dont want me to breathe who even came up w this and why is cf standard every drink?? (yes im a starbucks barista),” someone wrote.
If you need a refresher, the indulgent Dubai chocolate bar that features a thick, milk chocolate shell was created by Fix Chocolatier in the United Arab Emirates four years ago. By 2023, it exploded everywhere and social media couldn’t get enough of it.
