A Chicago woman had viewers heading for the hills after sharing footage of her “horror movie” basement, complete with exposed wires and a spooky mystery door. A video of the spine-tingling subterranean chamber has amassed over 7 million views on TikTok.
Emmy Manisone explained that her underground house of horrors was a “shared basement” that she uses so she won’t have to pay to do laundry.
“Y’all think your basement is scary?” the TikTokker warns, before embarking on a laundry run — with a baseball bat in hand for protection.
She starts the tour of terror by descending the dimly-lit staircase, before entering a pitch-black, unfinished basement that is the perfect backdrop for a John Carpenter slasher film.
Scattered about the labyrinthine concrete passageways are random furniture, a toy tank, a single car tire propped against a wall, and a web of exposed wires, which Manisone makes her way through like a character in a survival-horror game, periodically pausing to check if there’s anything sinister lurking around the corners.
When she arrives at the macabre laundry room, Manisone laments, “And then I gotta do my laundry in hopes that no one’s behind me — and I gotta do it quick!”
At one point, she takes viewers to an ominous green door that she refuses to “go in” because she has no idea what’s behind it.
“You don’t know what a scary basement is until you’ve been in mine,” the social media user declares before running back up the stairs.
Viewers were similarly frightened out of their wits by the basement from hell, with one writing, “This would have sent me back upstairs.”
“You need to gather 10 people and check out that door,” said another, while a third fretted, “What is a bat gonna do to a demon?”
“The number of human-shaped inanimate objects is out of this world,” observed one worried commenter.
“Respectfully leave us on the top stair next time,” wrote another.
Some even compared the space to the basement from “The Conjuring.”
Meanwhile, one even suggested that saving money wasn’t worth a trip to the dungeon-esque quarters, writing, “Just buy new clothes every week. It’s not even that serious.”
