Enough is enough!
A single gal’s take on thinking married women are “self-centered” is going viral — and there’s no denying that she has some valid points.
Ashanti, who goes by @unpunishablewoman on TikTok, has hundreds of videos on her page about singlehood and how to best navigate all that comes with it. While many of them are informative and helpful, one video in particular has resonated with thousands of other single women.
Remember that famous “Sex and the City” episode when Carrie wonders why single women can’t have the same kind of gift registries that soon-to-be brides or mothers have, after her expensive Manolo Blahniks were stolen at a baby shower where guests were required to take their shoes off?
Ashanti echoed a similar sentiment in one of her videos, as she called out married women for not investing as much into the lives of their single friends.
Yet on the flip side of that, unmarried women are expected to invest time, energy and money into their married or parent friends by attending events like bachelorette parties and baby showers — a frustrating reality that many single women can relate to.
“Single women are expected to forgive their married female friends for anything. We’re meant to be understanding, ever available, ever accessible. We’re meant to support them through life events they experience — pregnancy, proposals, engagements, destination weddings,” she pointed out in the intro of her video, which now has over 200,000 views.
“But rarely, if ever, do married women really allocate time and investment into their single friends’ life events, whether that’s a promotion, a career move, moving home, traveling, any other achievement that isn’t related to a man, to procreation…” she explained.
Ashanti went on to explain how, when a single woman does get together with her married friend who’s also a mother, she’s often distracted by everything else but the conversation in front of her.
Thousands of other single, childless women in the comment section agreed, proving a common theme in adult female friendships.

They go on and on about their lives and their children, but if you say one sentence about yourself, they are looking at their phones or cutting you off. It’s disgusting.
