LOS ANGELES () — A security hold has halted the release of records connected to the murders of actor-director Rob Reiner and his photographer wife Michele Singer Reiner, the county medical examiner’s office said Monday.
On Christmas Eve, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office said it received a court order initiated by Los Angeles police to place a security hold on the cases. The security hold also prevents the release of information that was previously disclosed to the public, such as the Reiners’ cause and manner of death.
“No other case information or records, including the Medical Examiner report, can be released or posted on the website until further notice,” the county medical examiner’s office said in a statement.
The statement added: “The Department understands the public’s interest in these cases and remains committed to transparency when possible. Information will be made available once the court order is lifted.”
Previously released records from the L.A. County Medical Examiner show the couple’s manner of death was ruled a homicide, with both dying from “multiple sharp force injuries.”
The Reiners were found dead in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in his parents’ killings.
In another high-profile case, the medical examiner was also blocked from releasing records in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The teenager’s body was found in the trunk of singer D4vd’s Tesla.
