Denny Hamlin’s fiancée is speaking out nearly a month after the NASCAR star’s father, Dennis Hamlin, died in a house fire.
“I just wanna come on here and say hi. I know it’s been a minute,” Jordan Fish wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, January 25, according to Essentially Sports. “I wanted to say thank you to everybody reaching out over the last month or so. I tried to get back to a lot of you. I know there were so many I did not reply to. I’ve seen everyone’s messages. I just wanna say thank you.”
The deadly fire occurred at the North Carolina home of Denny’s parents, Dennis, 75, and Mary Lou, 69, the night of December 28. Both were transported to a local hospital with “catastrophic injuries,” the Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services confirmed the following day.
“It’s been a really weird, sad season,” Fish continued. “Not really much of an off-season at all, and it’s hard to believe that next weekend we’re gonna be starting back up again, and I don’t feel like we’re really caught up.”
She concluded, “I’m kind of fighting a little sickness right now. I just wanna come on here and say thank you for reaching out and supporting our family. We really appreciate it.”
Denny, 45, provided an update on his mom’s recovery, telling Fox Sports Digital on Thursday, January 22, that she has “good days, bad days, but is getting better.”
The three-time Daytona 500 winner thanked fans for their condolences via X three days after the fire.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with condolences on my father’s passing,” he wrote on December 31. “My mother continues to improve, and our family truly appreciates the outpouring of support and the respect for our privacy during this time.”
Just weeks earlier, Denny had teared up in court while discussing his father’s impact on his ability to pursue his NASCAR dreams. (NASCAR and 3XI Racing, which Denny co-owns with Michael Jordan, reached a settlement on December 11 in their antitrust case.)

“We got to when I was about 20 and a decision had to be made, I could keep racing or go out and work for my dad’s trailer business,” Denny said in his testimony, telling the court about the sacrifices Dennis made to allow him to continue to compete.
Denny told the Associated Press in October that Dennis was battling a “serious illness” and that 2025 would be his last chance to see his son win the NASCAR Cup Series.
“I know for a fact this is my last chance for my dad to see it. I don’t want him going and never getting to see the moment,” he said.
When Denny ultimately fell short, he said his dad was “supportive.”
“He didn’t like the outcome, but I think he was still okay with the result,” Denny said on a November episode of his “Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin” podcast. “You know, he said to me, just like a lot of people say, he’s like, ‘I don’t know what to say. What am I supposed to say?’ He’s like, ‘You had it. You did it. You just don’t have the trophy.”
