Miley Cyrus is returning to her roots.
Cyrus, 33, was seen tearing up while talking about the impact Hannah Montana had on her life during a new 20th anniversary special trailer, shared via Disney+’s social media clips on Tuesday, March 17.
The trailer started with quick snippets of Cyrus’s face throughout the years. It then cut to Cyrus driving a convertible through California streets with her trusty pink suitcase — featured in Hannah Montana: The Movie — in the seat next to her. After she parked the car, Cyrus stepped out in her iconic blonde wig and said, “Good to be home.”
She then walked into a set featuring her family’s kitchen from the show. “We have so many shared memories. We actually grew up together,” she shared.
In another clip, Cyrus wiped tears from her eyes and said, “This is where it’s gonna get emotional.” While talking to her mom, she added, “I love being Hannah, I love being Miley Cyrus. You really taught me who I am.”
Elsewhere in the trailer, Cyrus is seen performing “The Climb” and “Best of Both Worlds,” as well as hugging her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who also played her dad in the series.
Alex Cooper, who is hosting the special, also asked Miley which “Disney boy” she had the “biggest crush on” while filming the show. Cyrus hilariously replied, “Get the tea kettle!”
“20 years in the making ❤️,” Disney captioned the post.
Fans were quick to share their excitement in the comments section.
“Sweet Niblets I can’t wait for this!,” one wrote, while another added, “MILEY PERFORMING BEST OF BOTH WORLDS?!?!?! 😭😭😭😭 okey my life is saved.” A third quipped, “I could pee my pants.”
Miley previously opened up about celebrating the show’s run in January while chatting with Entertainment Tonight. (Hannah Montana aired on Disney Channel from 2006 through 2011.)
“I always love when people got to grow up with the whole thing,” she gushed. “Knowing how it impacted people was a lot.” She then teased the special, saying her “fans deserved it.”
“We gotta celebrate. There’s like a big birthday party I’m imagining,” she added. “I am on it. I want to honor Hannah as much as anyone.” She also laughed about already getting in the spirit by “lightening [her] hair and getting the bangs.”
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres on March 24, on Disney+ and Hulu.
