A Texas man accused of killing a 37-year-old woman was arrested by authorities while wearing a disturbing hooded sweatshirt that read “I Will Put You in a Trunk.”
Kruz Dean Wanser was detained on Thursday, January 15, following “the suspicious death” of Margaret Pennington that took place inside of a home in Azle, Texas, on January 11, according to a news release shared by the Azle Police Department.
Wanser has been charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and parole violation, per the release.
In his booking photo, Wasner was pictured in a blue hoodie that featured a disturbing message in white text. “I will put you in a trunk and help people look for you,” the sweatshirt read, while italic text on the hoodie continued, “Stop playing with me.”
Officers with the Azle Police Department worked with the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, the Texas Rangers, the United States Marshalls and the Parker County Special Crimes Unit in order to arrest Wanser, according to the release.
“At this time, [Pennington’s] cause of death is still pending,” the department explained in the statement. “This is an open investigation and anyone with any information related to the death of Pennington is encouraged to contact the Azle Police Department at 817-444-3221.”
Prior to Wasner’s arrest, police confirmed in a Facebook post on January 12, that he was considered “a person of interest in a suspicious death investigation.”

At the time, police asked that anyone with information about Wasner or Pennington’s death come forward amid the investigation. Authorities also insisted that those with information that could help with the investigation could remain anonymous.
Police have not yet confirmed how Wasner knew the victim prior to her death or why they believe he is a suspect in the case. Additionally, he has not yet been charged with her death.
An online obituary for Pennington was shared by Forest Meadows Funeral Home in her hometown of Gainesville, Florida. After her birthday and date of her death were shared, the obituary stated that she was “deeply loved by her family and friends.”
“Margaret had a creative and sentimental spirit. She found comfort in baking, crocheting, enjoyed music, had a keen interest in genealogy, and loved collecting vintage treasures that carried history and meaning,” the post continued. “She valued time spent with friends and family and was known for her spunky personality, quick wit, and unmistakable sense of humor. Though small in stature, she had a strong presence and a way of leaving an impression on those who knew her.”
The post continued, “Margaret’s life was a tapestry of complexity, yet she embodied the essence of humanity and the profound love she shared. She will be remembered for her creativity, humor, and the unwavering love that radiated from within her.”
“Margaret was previously married to Andrew Krynik, who was the great love of her life. She held a special place in her heart for his children,” the obituary said, adding that she “cherished her role in helping raise” Krynik’s kids.
