SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES () — A suspect was hospitalized after being shot by Los Angeles police during a physical altercation with officers Wednesday night in San Pedro, authorities said.
Officers responded to a call for service shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West 37th Street, just west of Pacific Avenue, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told 7.
The officers were dispatched to a report of an individual allegedly violating a restraining order, the spokesperson said.
The officers encountered a male suspect at the scene and the altercation ensued, followed by the shooting, according to the LAPD.
The injured suspect was hospitalized in unknown condition. Two officers were taken to a hospital after suffering minor injuries, the Police Department said.
