It’s now easier to book Wizz Air connections – but there’s a catch

Wizz Air has unveiled a new platform to make it easier to book connecting flights with the airline – but passengers will still have to self-transfer.

Dubbed Wizz Link, the platform allows customers to book multi-leg journeys that pass through one of the budget carrier’s main travel hubs.

Created in collaboration with Dohop, an Icelandic travel tech company, one of the benefits of booking through Wizz Link – aside from saving time – is that you can add on ConnectSure protection which means you will be rebooked onto another flight if delays mean you miss your original booking.

A self-transfer connecting flight means that your luggage will not automatically be sent on the next leg of your journey.

You will instead need to collect your baggage, pass through customs and check-in again after landing, which you need to accommodate with a longer layover.

Where can I fly with Wizz Link?

Aside from its main base in Budapest, Wizz Air has hubs in cities across Europe including London, Rome, Warsaw and Tirana.

According to the airline, Wizz Link opens up more than 8,000 new route options to passengers.

These include routes such as London Luton to Egypt’s Red Sea tourist town Marsa Alam via Rome, Kutaisi to Reykjavík via Warsaw, or Athens to Oslo via Bucharest.

While the new system opens up routes previously unavailable in a single booking, Wizz Link could also be used to reduce the cost of a flight that is already available to customers direct – at the cost of a lengthy layover.

The news comes after Wizz Air rolled out “Wizz Class”, where customers can pay an additional fee to keep the seat next to them free.
