Hayden Panettiere’s family is supporting her former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko’s petition for guardianship over their 11-year-old daughter Kaya’s estate.
The late actress’ family doesn’t plan to challenge Kaya’s inheritance after the actress’ former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko recently filed for guardianship, Us can confirm. (TMZ was first to report the news.)
Klitschko, 50, submitted paperwork earlier this month, requesting to be the temporary guardian of his daughter’s estate. When Panettiere died in August, Kaya was the sole inheritor of the Nashville alum’s assets. As Kaya is a minor, the court could appoint a guardian while the case is in probate.
“It is urgent and essential that Wladimir be immediately appointed temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate, to afford Wladimir the necessary standing to file Hayden’s probate petition, and the power to nominate a proposed administrator of Hayden’s estate,” the former boxer wrote in his petition, per court documents obtained by Us. “Without an immediate appointment for these purposes, there is a high probability that property belonging to Hayden’s estate may be lost, damaged or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it. This directly and adversely affects Kaya, as she is the sole heir entitled to the entirety of Hayden’s probate estate.”
Panettiere and Klitschko were together on and off from 2009 to 2018, welcoming Kaya in 2014. The Heroes actress ultimately relinquished custody of Kaya to Klitschko following their 2018 breakup, occasionally visiting her daughter overseas. (Klitschko and his daughter primarily live in Ukraine.)
Us confirmed in August that Panettiere died at age 36 from the “toxic effects” of fentanyl and other drugs, per an autopsy report. A coroner also determined her death as an accident. (In addition to Kaya, Hayden is survived by her parents, Skip Panettiere and Lesley Vogel.)
Following Panettiere’s death, Klitschko pledged to honor her legacy for Kaya’s benefit.

“Our family is going through a time of profound shock and grief. The announcement of Hayden’s tragic death saddens me deeply,” he wrote in a statement shared via social media last month. “She left this world far too soon. Hayden was, although no longer my partner, an important part of my life and the mother of our daughter, Kaya. She built an incredible career through immense talent, while also facing the darker sides of a very demanding industry.”
He continued at the time, “Nothing will erase the times we shared or the place she had in our lives. To our daughter Kaya, I will always speak of her mother with respect and make sure she remembers the person she was. I extend my deepest condolences to Hayden’s parents, her friends, and her fans, who are also grieving today. Young and talented people like Hayden should not leave this world so soon.”
