GLENDALE, Calif. () — Police surrounded an apartment in Glendale on Tuesday afternoon after another police investigation in the neighborhood sparked a response from the bomb squad.
The law enforcement activity was happening at an apartment complex along Los Feliz Road at Gardena Avenue. Glendale police were reportedly serving a search warrant.
The operation follows an investigation that began Monday night, where a man was taken into custody during a traffic stop around 8 p.m. in the 3000 block of W. Los Feliz Boulevard. Police did not provide further details, but did note that the man was taken into custody “on outstanding warrants.”
The suspect’s car was taken to a tow yard at Flower Street and Sonora Avenue, and an investigation into the vehicle on Tuesday sparked a search involving the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad.
The tow yard and surrounding area were evacuated as the bomb squad thoroughly checked the vehicle. The all-clear was eventually given, and the bomb squad was moved to the scene on Los Feliz Boulevard, Glendale police said.
Glendale police confirmed that they were executing a search warrant at the apartment complex connected to the tow yard investigation.
They said the search was a follow-up on suspicious items found during the search of the vehicle at the tow yard.
Glendale police told Eyewitness News that the investigation is not connected to the Turtle Island Liberation Front terror investigation and it does not involve federal agents.
