LOS ANGELES — Fans are celebrating across the Southland after the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees to win the World Series for the eighth time in franchise history.
Immediately after the end of the game Wednesday night, fans spilled out onto the streets of East L.A. and celebrated by waving Dodger flags and setting off fireworks, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
An unlawful assembly was later declared at an intersection where hundreds gathered.
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a dispersal order in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Vin Scully Avenue near Dodger Stadium due to World Series celebrations.
In Pasadena, fans began to line up at DICK’S Sporting Goods to grab championship merchandise.
