A student at Wichita State University was arrested on Saturday on a charge of rape, marking the second alleged sexual attack on campus in one month.
A spokesman for the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital that James Vandenberg was arrested Saturday on campus at a Wichita State University dorm hall by university police.
Vandenberg was released from jail on Sunday after securing a $100,000 surety bond, the spokesman said.

Wichita State University campus police are investigating the case, according to the spokesman.

On Oct. 12, 18-year-old Aaron Christian was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and rape. He was released the next day after securing a $100,000 surety bond. The Wichita State University Police Department is handling that investigation.

After Christian’s arrest, a university spokesperson said that the school “takes all reports of sexual assault seriously.”

“The university takes all reports of sexual assault seriously. Sexual violence has no place in any campus community, and we are committed to following all applicable laws, reporting, investigative and student-support processes,” the spokesperson said.

Before the two alleged sexual assaults in October, the last reported allegation of sexual assault was on Feb. 28 at The Flats, which is an apartment complex on campus, according to campus police records.
A sexual battery allegation was also made on Feb. 18 at Shocker Studios on campus, which is where the school of digital arts is housed. A 20-year-old man was arrested in that incident, according to campus police records.
