HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. () — A police chase in Huntington Beach came to an end with the arrest of two suspects, but not before one of them took a dip in the ocean.
It unfolded following a traffic stop around 10 p.m. Sunday night, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The car turned out to be stolen, police said. The driver took off, leading officers onto Pacific Coast Highway.
The department’s helicopter followed the suspects from above as officers on the ground deployed spike strips and performed a PIT maneuver.
Both suspects jumped out of the car. The passenger was quickly arrested, but the driver ran toward the beach and into the water.
The “soggy suspect” surrendered shortly after, police said.
