LOS ANGELES () — A group of burglars broke into a luxury eyewear store in the Fairfax District Sunday, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
Surveillance video shows the burglars reverse a truck into Hall of Frames.
Four thieves are then seen crawling through the narrow cracks to get in. They then use a crowbar to smash the glass cases.
They managed to escape with about 200 pairs of glasses valued at roughly $150,000 in just under two minutes.
This is not the first time the store gets broken into. Hall of Frames manager Simon Babouchian said this is the second smash-and-grab at the location since February.
“The first time was a shock, and the second time was like ‘Is this really happening again?’,” said Babouchian.
He said they were just starting to recover from the last break-in during Super Bowl weekend.
The shop is known for celebrity clients such as Kim Kardashian and Quavo and for carrying designer brands like Cartier and Lowe.
“Some things, we’re going to be able to replace. Some of the items, we just don’t know if we’ll ever have, because there was some specialty items here, you know, one of one pieces,” said Babouchian.
He said they’ve already seen some of the stolen merchandise end up on platforms like OfferUp.
“It’s hard to stop these things. We have security guards in place. We got camera systems. We got alarm systems,” Babouchian said.
Although they said the break-in hasn’t halted their business, it will take them time to clean up the shattered glass. making them question if this is still the right street to operate their 30 year business on.
“We got to figure out what options we have. Is this the area we want to continue doing our community service to or do we want to pick up and go into a safer structure,” said Babouchian.
No arrests have been made.
