HARBOR GATEWAY, LOS ANGELES () — A robbery at a 7-Eleven in Harbor Gateway turned deadly after officers were confronted by an armed suspect late Saturday night, the Los Angeles Police Department says.
The officer-involved shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. after police responded to reports of a robbery at the convenience store located in the 15300 block of Figueroa Street, according to LAPD.
The department said responding officers found a woman, in her 30s, identified as the suspect, behind the counter. And as they tried to communicate with her, the suspect retrieved what appeared to be a firearm and officers opened fire.
The woman died at the scene.
LAPD said that no officers or store employees were hurt.
No further details were immediately known. The investigation continues.
