Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang apologizes as firm probes affair with alleged spy

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang apologized Sunday for being unfaithful to his wife as the company opened an independent investigation into reports linking him to an alleged Chinese spy.

“I was unfaithful to my wife. My actions hurt her and our children. There is no excuse for what I did. I am deeply sorry,” Huang wrote in a message to employees provided to FOX Business by Nvidia.

The New York Times previously reported on Huang’s relationship with Megaspeed executive Alice Huang, whom U.S. intelligence identified as a Chinese intelligence asset. The newspaper first reported Sunday that he acknowledged an intimate relationship to NVIDIA’s board.

“I take full responsibility for what I did and the hurt I caused, and I accept the criticism that comes with it,” Huang wrote.

Nvidia said Huang will remain at the helm during the investigation.

“Today’s news will not slow NVIDIA. Jensen is committed to continuing to lead NVIDIA as CEO without interruption,” a company spokesperson told FOX Business.

Nvidia’s board said independent directors, assisted by outside independent counsel, will oversee the investigation.

“While the Board has no reason to believe that either national security or NVIDIA secrets were compromised, the Board’s inquiry will examine all available information,” the board said.

The directors said U.S. national and economic security take priority over the interests of Nvidia and its shareholders.

“Jensen fully supports the review and has committed to cooperating with it,” the statement continued. “The Board has confidence in Jensen and his leadership team and will provide further updates as appropriate.”

Huang pledged to cooperate fully.

“I love our country and our company. I am committed to protecting Nvidia and supporting America’s national security,” he wrote.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio had warned Trump administration officials about Huang’s ties to the woman, the Times reported, citing multiple people briefed on the matter.

The investigation follows demands from three House Republicans for Huang to answer questions about his interactions with Alice Huang and Nvidia’s safeguards against foreign espionage.

Reps. Brian Mast, R-Fla., John Moolenaar, R-Mich., and Rick Crawford, R-Ark., invited Huang to an in-person joint briefing on Nov. 18, one day after Nvidia’s scheduled third-quarter earnings report. It was unclear whether Huang would attend.

The lawmakers said recent reports raised concerns about China’s access to sensitive U.S. technology and information, and that Congress must determine whether national security was put at risk.

The scrutiny comes as Jensen Huang has lobbied the Trump administration to ease restrictions on Nvidia chip sales to China. Earlier this year, he joined President Donald Trump’s business delegation to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Nvidia’s chips are central to the U.S.-China competition over artificial intelligence.

U.S. officials initially did not believe Jensen Huang knew of her alleged intelligence activities, according to the newspaper.
