Los Angeles weather: Southern California braces for Halloween rain. Here’s what to expect this weekend

LOS ANGELES () — Southern California is expected to see a wet Halloween weekend as rain moves into the region, while coastal communities continue monitoring high tides and flooding concerns on Friday.

Showers could arrive as early as Friday morning and continue through Saturday morning. 7 has issued a weather change alert due to the wet forecast.

According to the National Weather Service, the main storm is expected to move eastward toward Southern California by Saturday afternoon and evening before pushing inland on Sunday.

Current projections show rain arriving Saturday afternoon, potentially disrupting Halloween festivities and making it the first wet Halloween in Los Angeles since 2014.

Rain is expected to continue through most of Sunday before conditions begin to clear Monday.

Along the coast, high tides and flooding concerns remain in place Friday, although tide levels are not expected to reach those seen earlier in the week. Expect late-morning high tides between 6 and 7 feet.

A coastal flood advisory remains in effect for beaches in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties and is set to expire at 2 p.m. Friday.

Friday forecast

Los Angeles and Orange counties are expected to see a 30% chance of showers Friday, with a high of 70 degrees and a low of 62. Up to three-quarters of an inch of rain could fall from late Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.

The valleys and Inland Empire Friday will see a high of 71 degrees and a low of 58, with a 30% chance for showers. Rain chances increase to 70% on Saturday, with rainfall totals expected to range from one-half inch to 1 inch.

Beaches can expect a slight chance of showers, with a high of 68 degrees and a low of 59 on Friday. Surf is expected to be between 2 and 5 feet. Most rainfall is expected Saturday evening through Sunday morning, with up to one-half inch possible.

Mountain communities will see a high of 51 degrees and a chilly overnight low of 34 on Friday. Cloudy skies and light showers are expected, with additional rain possible Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Desert areas Friday can expect a high of 69 degrees and a low of 45, with partly sunny conditions. There’s a 50% chance for rain on Saturday.
