Diane Keaton’s two children have publicly paid tribute to their late mother one year after her death.
The actress’ daughter, Dexter White, 30, and son, Duke Keaton, 26, both took to Instagram on Sunday, October 11, to honor Diane, who died in October 2025 of pneumonia. She was 79.
“One year without you, mom,” began Dexter, who also shared a black-and-white photograph of herself standing with her mom on her 2021 wedding day. “It somehow feels like yesterday and forever ago all at once. I’m still trying to get used to a world where I can’t call you, have you there for a hug, or go on adventures with you.”
Dexter, who was walked down the aisle by Diane when she married race car driver Jordan White, continued, “It’s the everyday moments that remind me just how much I wish you were still here. I love you and I miss you. Always.”
For Duke’s part, the artist shared a carousel of three photos of himself enjoying time with his mom over the years. “I love you Mom. Thinking of you every day,” he captioned the post.
Duke’s loved ones shared messages of support for him in the post’s comments section, including Sarah Paulson who had shared her own tribute to Diane several hours prior. Leaving three red heart emojis on Duke’s post, Paulson, 51, was sent three red hearts in return by Duke.
“One year. Impossible. Laughing with you will always be what I remember most,” Paulson, the American Horror Story star wrote via her Instagram account on Sunday. “I love you.”
While Duke’s online tribute served as the first post shared via his Instagram account, his sister has taken to social media to commemorate their mom on several occasions. In May, she shared a carousel of images to mark Mother’s Day. “First Mother’s Day without you. I miss you more than words can say. Missing her voice, her hugs, her presence, and everything that made her home. I love you, Mom,” she captioned the post at the time.
A friend of Diane’s told People in the wake of her death that the Father of the Bride star’s health “declined very suddenly” during her final few months, causing her to withdraw from public life.
The outlet reported that the actress chose to keep the nature of her health issues private from many of her friends, instead surrounding herself only with her “closest family.”
Diane adopted both Dexter and Duke when they were babies. She is survived by her children.
