Burbank’s beloved ‘clown house’ won’t return this Halloween, devastating fans: ‘Gut punch’

Say it ain’t so.

Burbank’s spooky ‘clown house’ won’t return this Halloween, much to the horror of the attraction’s dedicated fans.

“We here at Burbank Clown House are sad to announce that we will be dark for the 2026 season,” organizers shared in late September Instagram post.

The carnival-themed Halloween attraction has a reputation for drawing thousands to a home’s front yard in the LA suburb, where visitors encounter a mix of frightening animatronics and people dressed as creepy clowns.

After large crowds overwhelmed last year’s location, organizers said they “worked tirelessly” to find a new site, but were unsuccessful after two potential partners fell through.

But fear not: The iconic hotspot is planning to return bigger and better than ever next year with a new interactive “Klown Maze.”

“We’re looking forward to 2027 and brining you an amazing experience,” the organizers wrote.

Still, fans had a bone to pick in the comments.

“Oh man! Gut punch after gut punch! Definitely better to take the time then try to last minute pull something together,” one wrote. “Sorry to hear it guys! But I’m sure next year is gonna be insane!”

“Does this mean nothing at all ??? My son will be devastated,” lamented another.

“Wow, the city of Burbank is going downhill fast. Can’t even get their act together to help host a fun Halloween event. Very sad,” a third commented.

Last year’s clown house featured more than 100 animatronics and 10 live clowns, according to CBS LA.

Organizer Gary Lane — who launched Burbank Clown House with his brother, Larry, and set designer Michael Bowen in 2019 — said the attraction offers an essential Halloween outing for families who can’t afford more expensive seasonal activities.

“So many parents tell us ‘I can’t carry my kids to Universal, I can’t afford Disney‘. This is their Halloween,” he told the outlet.

In 2025, Lane estimated that the attraction drew about 5,000 people on Friday nights, with another 3,000 visitors stopping by throughout the week.

The spooky site is completely free for visitors, though organizers do accept donations via their website.
