Arin Patterson wants to know where the hell her husband is. So she created a form to find him.
The 36-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, single has sparked virtual cheers — and groans — with her recent public attempt to find love, having put together a detailed “husband application” with the intent of attracting and vetting potential life partners.
Since pinning the three-page Google form to her Instagram bio in late August and advertising her quest for romance on social media, Patterson’s targeted search for a spouse has garnered 241 submissions and “anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500” direct messages, with the month-long application window closing for good at 11:59 p.m. EDT tonight.
“I’m open to meeting a handsome, intelligent, kind, loyal, and generous man who’s interested in coffee dates, dinner dates, good conversation and seeing where things go,” Patterson proclaims on her form.
The determined dater broke off an engagement in 2019 and moved to the Queen City for a new start after the pandemic. She’s been entirely single for about three years — though this hasn’t been due to lack of trying.
“A good amount [of my dates] have been through the dating apps and just meeting people that way because that’s socially acceptable,” Patterson, who works at UNC Charlotte as the senior associate director of a student union, told The Post.
“I have met people in person and gone on dates that way,” she continued, having been inspired in her search for love by her parents’ own 44-year marriage. “I’m always open to people setting me up … I have done literally everything that I know to do, which is how I got to the husband application.”
In the virtual form, which Patterson cheekily titled “So…You’re Interested?” she first introduces intrigued suitors to her extroverted personality, calling herself a “people person — optimistic, bubbly, silly, kind and authentic.” She adds that as a recent master’s degree grad, an attitude of “learning and growth” continues to be central to her character.
Then comes her “minimum qualifications” for a man: 28- to 47-years-old, Christian, single and ready to find love, with an ultimate desire to be a husband and father.
Preferred qualities include having a “bachelor’s degree or higher” — and to stand at 5’10” or above to complement Patterson’s own tall, curvy frame: 5’8″ flat-footed, 6’0″ with heels.
Applicants interested in the Charlotte beauty’s open “boo for the holidays” slot — though “marriage is the goal,” she clarified — are encouraged to complete their submission to the best of their ability. Would-be beaux are prompted to spill everything from what they want in a partner to “something you could talk about for an unreasonable amount of time.”
Social media reactions to Patterson’s love project have been downright polarizing, ranging from open admiration to head-scratching incredulity.
“You will find a worthy partner soon,” one of Patterson’s commenters shared under one of her recent posts on her unique attempt at finding love. “I applaud the intentional move.”
“Make another video,” demanded a more pushy commenter who likely won’t make Patterson’s top 10 list. “Tell that man why he should make you his wife.”
“If it’s really real…I’m open to starting a conversation,” added a potential romantic interest.
Though she acknowledges that haters may call her desperate, Patterson ultimately believes that it may help her achieve her lifelong goal of becoming a wife, adding that after she finally makes time to go through all the submissions — then interview and date viable candidates — she’ll be “delighted and pleasantly surprised” if her audacity pays off with a ring.
“I don’t think that having a desire for something means that you’re desperate for it,” she said. “I’m just very clear about what I want and very intentional. This has been my opportunity to do that in a fun and funny way, but it’s very much a serious thing that I’m pursuing.”
