LOS ANGELES () — Tires on a DHL cargo plane caught on fire while landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday night, in an intense moment caught on video.
The incident unfolded around 11 p.m. Wednesday as the plane arrived at LAX from Phoenix. Video shows the moment the plane touched down with flames shooting from underneath it.
Emergency crews rushed to the aircraft, forcing one of the runways to temporarily close. AIR7 got a view after the fire was put out and could see four rear tires with severe damage.
In a statement, DHL said the aircraft experienced “an apparent brake system issue upon landing… which resulted in a brake overheat.”
The company added that nobody was injured and all crew members are safe.
The plane was removed from the runway Thursday evening.
