For the performance, Sofía puts a ballroom twist on the classic number, originally performed by the character Mike in the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical.
MCC’s annual Miscast Gala brings together Broadway performers to take on songs from roles in which they would not traditionally be cast. The event celebrates unexpected interpretations of musical theater favorites while raising funds for MCC Theater and its artistic and education programs. Sofia most recently appeared on Broadway as Cassandra and Skimbleshanks in Cats: The Jellicle Ball. A graduate of the SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory, she began her career on the international tour of West Side Story and performed with Ballet Hispánico and Morphoses before making her Broadway debut in the original company of Finding Neverland. She later originated the role of Veruca Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Her screen credits include Fosse/Verdon, Law & Order: SVU, Alternatino and Call Your Mother, and she has also produced and performed in original cabaret shows throughout New York City nightlife.
