A runaway pig dubbed “Wilbur” sent Angelenos on a wild chase over the weekend after the surprisingly speedy swine was spotted hoofing it through West Hollywood.
The bizarre pursuit through streets and alleyways was captured in a viral TikTok.
“There’s a pig in West Hollywood!” Jamaal Harrison said in a clip posted to his account. “We gotta catch the pig!” Harrison said he was riding down the street when he spotted what he initially thought was a loose dog.
“I, basically, was riding down the street when I saw what I think is a little puppy, and it’s not a little puppy — that’s a pig!” Harrison told CBS.
What followed was a chase around town with Harrison on an e-bike in the West Hollywood and Fairfax area, with Wilbur managing to evade him and others hoping to get him to safety and out of the roadways.
The little black and white pig ran through the streets and eventually Harrison lost track of it, but posted his footage on social media where Wilbur quickly turned into an online sensation.
Amateur sleuths flooded the comments with clues about the runaways possible home. “The comments are going, ‘Oh, I know that pig. I know where that pig comes from and I’ve seen that pig before,’” Harrison told CBS.
Wilbur’s adventure came to an end when the animal was ultimately captured and taken to the Los Angeles Animal Shelter. The pig will reportedly be held there until Aug. 20, to give its owner the chance to come forward and claim it. If nobody does, Wilbur will likely be transferred to a facility better suited to caring for pigs.
“There’s a lot of people out there who love this pig.”
