Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Mom Reaches Settlement With His Daughter’s Guardians Over Money

Malcolm-Jamal Warner‘s mom, Pamela Warner, revealed she has reached a settlement with the guardians of the late actor’s daughter.

“Pamela has since reached a settlement with her granddaughter’s representatives which is subject to court approval,” Pamela said in a statement to TMZ on Thursday, August 13. “The agreement provides for Malcolm’s daughter to receive the majority remainder of the Trust and Estate.”

Pamela told the outlet that the agreement has yet to be approved by the court and she remains “hopeful that all parties will support the resolution.”

Pamela slammed the “untrue” claims that she was preventing “her granddaughter from receiving financial support.” She noted that Malcolm-Jamal was “thoughtful and deliberate in his estate planning to include all his loved ones.”

Malcolm Jamal-Warner’s widow, Tenisha Warner, is addressing her relationship with her mother-in-law, Pamela Warner, amid their bombshell lawsuit. “Right now, everybody — like, all of his family members and [those] who have lost him — they are grieving,” Tenisha told Gayle King in a teaser of her Thursday, July 23, CBS Mornings sit-down. “You know, […]

According to the outlet, Malcolm-Jamal’s widow, Tenisha Warner, has not spoken out about the deal and seemingly did not play a role in the discussions.

Last month, Tenisha filed a lawsuit against Pamela, who is the successor trustee of Malcolm-Jamal’s Warner Family Trust, one year after Malcolm-Jamal’s tragic death. (The Cosby Show alum died in July 2025 after being caught in a riptide in Costa Rica while on vacation with his family. He was 54.)

According to court documents obtained by Us at the time, Tenisha claimed that she is entitled to $1.2 million, which she claims is equivalent of what her late husband promised her as part of the couple’s premarital agreement.

Earlier this week, a friend of Tenisha created a GoFundMe to aid her amid the legal battle.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner‘s mother, Pamela Warner, seemingly hinted at drama with her daughter-in-law Tenisha Hancock-Warner on the same day as their bombshell legal dispute erupted. “During my year long journey, I have discovered how cruel, evil and greedy a human can be,” Pamela wrote via Facebook and on the Malcolm Jamal-Warner Living Legacy page via Instagram […]

“I have watched Tenisha spend this year grieving the love of her life while honoring the promise they made to each other, to homeschool their nine-year-old daughter,” the page read. “Every single day she shows up for her child as though her own world had not fallen apart, and still makes sure breakfast is on the table.”

The friend claimed that Malcolm-Jamal intended to “update his estate plan to provide for his wife and daughter, but he passed away before he could sign it.”

“I am asking you to stand with a grieving wife and mother, and her young daughter, so they don’t lose what Malcolm always intended to provide for them,” the post continued. “Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. If you are not able to give, sharing this page and keeping Tenisha and her daughter in your thoughts is a powerful gesture of support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
