BURBANK, Calif. () — A man was killed and a woman remains hospitalized after a crash involving an e-motorcycle in Burbank late Tuesday night, authorities said.
Officers responded to the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Hollywood Way around 11 p.m., where they found a man and a woman who had been ejected from the e-motorcycle.
The man died at a hospital, while the woman remains in critical condition.
The exact cause of the crash remains unclear, but police said preliminary information shows that “unsafe speed by the motorcyclist was likely a contributing factor.”
“As electric mobility devices become more popular, the Burbank Police Department encourages parents and riders to understand the laws governing these devices, wear appropriate safety gear, obey traffic laws, and ride responsibly,” police said in a statement.
The driver of the sedan remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators and did not display signs or symptoms of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to police.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Burbank Police Department’s Investigation Division at 818-238-3210.
