LOS ANGELES () — Slight relief from Southern California’s heat wave is almost here, but another round of extreme heat is already on the way.
An extreme heat warning remains for the Antelope Valley and large portions of San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The warning expires at 8 p.m. Monday.
The rest of the region will be under a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Monday.
When will the region see relief from the heat? A slight cooldown moves in on Tuesday, but most areas will only see a two- to five-degree drop in temperatures.
Then, another area of high pressure will build back in by Friday into Saturday, bringing another extreme heat wave to SoCal over the weekend.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Monday will be sunny with a high of 91 degrees and a low of 67. Temperatures are expected to drop to the upper 80s beginning Tuesday before another heat wave moves in next weekend.
In the valleys and Inland Empire, temperatures on Monday are expected to reach a high of 98 degrees and a low of 70. Triple-digit temperatures are expected to return by Friday and through the weekend.
Beach communities can expect morning clouds followed by afternoon sunshine on Monday, with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 69. Similar conditions are on tap all week.
Mountain communities on Monday will see mostly sunny skies with a high of 85 degrees and a low of 56. Temperatures are expected to climb back to the low-90s by the weekend.
Desert areas will remain hot on Monday, with a high of 104 degrees and a low of 73. Palm Springs is expected to reach 114 degrees. Similar conditions are expected all week.
