This model is toast.
A recall has been issued for a popular toaster oven sold online through both Amazon and Costco.
Panasonic, the manufacturer of the faulty oven, has recalled more than 11,000 of them, according to a notice posted by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall, which was issued on July 16, is for Panasonic Electric Toaster Ovens with the Model No. NB-G200.
The model number is located on the nameplate label on the back of the Electric Toaster Oven.
These stainless steel ovens, which retail for about $170, have digital temperature settings and a timer, six cooking menus with pre-set buttons, and a temperature knob located on the bottom of the oven.
In addition to the 11,480 ovens domestically, another 2,184 were sold in Canada.
The ominous ovens were sold online from October 2024 through April 2026 on sites including Amazon, Costco, and Panasonic.
Per the notice, the recall was made amid fears that the power cord insulation may be insufficient, specifically that the fiberglass sleeve does not properly cover the cord, posing both a fire hazard and a risk of electric shock.
While no fires or injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC, there have been four incidents of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report of a toaster oven that stopped working.
Customers who purchased the ovens are urged to stop using them immediately.

Eligible customers will receive a return kit to send their product back free of charge. Consumers can also visit a dedicated recall website for more information.
In May, more than 113,000 electric kettles sold at Costco were recalled after the CPSC found that the handles could detach and spill hot water, including one reported second-degree burn.
In June, hundreds of thousands of space heaters sold at Costco and other major retailers were recalled after reports that the units overheated and caught fire, prompting federal safety officials to warn consumers to stop using them immediately.
Earlier this year, a warning was issued to oven customers after hundreds of oven doors shattered, some while the ovens were completely turned off.
According to a Consumer Reports probe, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received 386 complaints — including 40 injury reports — regarding the potential defect between January 2025 and March 2026. The lion’s share of complaints — 263 — concerned Frigidaire products, although GE (63 incidents), Whirlpool (35), LG (15), and Samsung (10) were also cited.
“It sounded like a small bomb went off,” declared one aghast consumer from Lewisville, North Carolina. “Glass shot all over the floor and across the room. Anyone standing close to the oven could have been seriously injured.”
