Yungblud Pulls Out of Festival Performance After Revealing Details of a Recent ‘Breakdown’

Yungblud pulled out of an upcoming Canadian music festival after crying during a stage performance earlier this month.

“To all my family in Canada I apologise for not being there with you all this weekend — I’m currently in a place where I’m working on myself and taking time off at home in the UK,” Yungblud, 28, shared in a statement on Wednesday, July 8. “I’m taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what’s going on for the good of the long term.”

He added, “I will never take any of this for granted and I will see you all soon. I love you all.”

The singer’s management team also released a statement on Wednesday, revealing that they “made the decision as a team” to pull him from the Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary.

“We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause, these are not decisions we take lightly,” the statement continued. “All other scheduled shows will go ahead as planned.”

Yunblud (real name Dominic Harrison) was set to take the stage on Sunday, July 12. The Cowboys Music Festival shared a message of support in a statement of their own, noting that there would be an update to the performances or a refund option for ticketholders.

“Our thoughts are with Dom (YUNGBLUD). We are sending him all our love and support, and wish him nothing but the very best during this time,” the festival’s statement read. “We want him to know and feel the true love he has here in Canada.”

Us Weekly has reached out for further comment.

TikTok star turned country music singer Tayler Holder canceled his nine-date When No One’s Around Tour to prioritize his mental health. “This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I need to cancel my upcoming shows,” Holder, 28, wrote via Instagram on Monday, May 11. “Over the past several months, […]

The show’s cancellation comes days after Yungblud posted a lengthy statement via Instagram on July 1, along with a video of him sobbing on stage.

“Recently, I’ve been really struggling and this moment is a byproduct of my body releasing the wave of emotion that has hit me in the past year that I’ve been unable to process,” he wrote. “I’m not gonna lie to you when I got off this stage I felt elated but 20 minutes later when I was in the shower on my own I had a breakdown.”

He explained that being an artist is “so strange” as the caption continued.

“You never get to sit in what happens for more than a couple hours therefore you fail to navigate or process anything you feel both good or bad at all,” he wrote. “In the past 10 years I’ve been on a million different journeys tried a million different sounds trying to figure out who I am or what I can mean to the world everyday whilst the world shouts back.”

Yungblud explained that he’s been impacted by the “amount of hate and disbelief” spewed at him, especially online.

“All I’ve been trying to do for the past 10 years is spread love, build something I believe in and unify people in a safe space,” he added. “I should really say nothing about this because it would makes me seem cooler and like it isn’t affecting me but deep down but I don’t think that’s who I am or why we all connect to each other.”

Yungblud said that he read an article recently saying that he’s not “an industry plant,” which made him “feel happy.”

“We’ve been moving so fast that I haven’t really been able to process anything at all but in this moment my emotions got the better of me. I needed that,” he added. “Thank you for providing a space that makes me feel safe enough where I could express myself truly. This community is created by us, for all of US.”

As he wrapped up his message, the singer said “deep down” he needed to do some work on himself.

“I feel good about the next couple months before I hibernate and take the time to prioritize that work,” Yungblud wrote. “To all my beautiful community reading this I just want to let you know how lucky I feel to have you all. This day reminded me of why I do this and how special what we have is.”

He concluded, “I love you with all my heart and I am truly thankful. What an honor it is to spend this life with you.”
